William J. Foster

William J. Foster, 80, a resident of Pinehill at Kimball Farms, died Friday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield, where he had resided for a short time.

Born in Bridgeport, Conn., on July 11, 1921, son of Cary and Evelyn Hansman Foster, he attended schools in Milford, Conn. He later attended Columbia University in New York City.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a first lieutenant and served as an adjutant in the China-Burma-India theater.

He made his home in Bethel, Conn., and was employed as treasurer of Republic Foil in Danbury, Conn., and later as comptroller at National Die Co. in Wolcott, Conn. He retired several years ago.

He enjoyed photography and sailing.

He leaves a son, Bruce J. Foster of Windsor; a brother, Ivan W. Foster of Milford; a sister, Elaine Greninger of Melbourne, Fla.; and a granddaughter.

A private burial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel, Conn. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
