Walter Guiltinan

Walter "Bud" Guiltinan, 77, of Camarillo, Calif., formerly of Pittsfield, died Friday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 16, 1924, son of Walter Leo Guiltinan Sr. and Alice Purnell Guiltinan, he graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1941. He also graduated from Notre Dame University in 1953. He moved to California in 1970.

A Navy veteran, he served during World War II as a radioman.

He was a co-owner of a metal finishing business until retiring in 1988. Before attending college, he had worked for the former E.D. Jones & Sons Co. and, later, was sales manager of the Pacific region of M&T Chemicals Inc., based in Pico Rovera, Calif.

He enjoyed following Notre Dame football, food and traveling.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, the former Marilyn Verchot; three sons, Michael Guiltinan of San Antonio, Texas, Mark Guiltinan of State College, Pa., and James Guiltinan of Big Bear Lake, Calif; three daughters, Jane Guiltinan of Seattle, Anne Guiltinan of San Francisco, Kathleen VanBuskirk of Longmont, Colo.; three sisters, Jean Magner of Pittsfield and Mary Pat Flood and Claire Pezzini, both of Camarillo; a brother, Richard Guiltinan of Stuart, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday, May 22, at 11:30 at Padre Serra Parish in Camarillo, Calif. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Camarillo Hospice, 400 Rosewood Ave., Suite 102, Camarillo, CA 93010.
