Helen L. Bannick

Helen Louise Bannick, 86, formerly of Rose Manor Apartments, died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since 1996.

Born in Brockton on Aug. 11, 1915, daughter of Joseph and Amelia Bertulis Shimkus, she was a graduate of schools in Jamaica Plains and the Boston Clerical School.

A homemaker, she had been employed as an electrocardiograph technician at the former Pittsfield General Hospital, now Berkshire Medical Center, for 20 years. She retired in 1969.

Mrs. Bannick was a communicant of St. Mary the Morning Star and a member of its Family Society. She was a volunteer at the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge.

Her husband, Chester W. Bannick, whom she married May 15, 1937, died Dec. 4, 1989.

She leaves a son, Ronald W. Bannick of Hinsdale.

The funeral will be Thursday, May 23, at 9:15 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Mary the Morning Star Church by the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery in West Stockbridge. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys' Club Alumni Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
