Arlene J. Norton, 69, of 2 Post Road died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter in Stockbridge.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., on June 30, 1932, daughter of Alfred K. and Jessie M. Kalbfleisch Lock, she was a graduate of Cliffside Park High School and the Wood School, New York City.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1961 and had resided in Lenox since 1980. She was the personal secretary to Jane and Jack Fitzpatrick of Stockbridge for many years.
An avid traveler, she enjoyed art, gardening and her dogs. She was also a genealogy enthusiast.
Her husband, William Goodspeed Norton, whom she married Aug. 14, 1954, died May 17, 2001.
Besides her daughter, Laurie Norton Moffatt of Stockbridge, she leaves another daughter, Gail Norton Romer of Great Barrington, and six grandchildren.
Mrs. Norton will be cremated. There will be a private gathering of friends and family at a later date. Friends desiring to honor her memory may make a donation to the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
