Joaquin A. Boino

Joaquin Augusto "Jack" Boino, 71, of 55 Eleanor Road died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 2, 1930, son of Thomas A. and Emilia do Ceu Gomes Cabral Boino, he was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

He served as a corporal in the Army during the Korean War.

An iron worker by trade, he was employed by Iron Workers Local 12 in Albany, N.Y., and was assigned to projects for GE, A. Leo Nash, Farrell & Gregory and East Coast Steel Workers.

Mr. Boino was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of the American Legion, and had been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at one time. An avid New York Yankees fan, he had coached Little League and also enjoyed playing cards.

He leaves his wife, the former Rosemary Brophy, whom he married July 14, 1951; four sons, John T. Boino of Pittsfield, and David F. Boino, Thomas M. Boino and Kevin J. Boino, all of Dalton; two daughters, Deborah A. Agar of Shawnee, Kan., and Maureen E. Boino of Westboro; a brother, Daniel Boino of Pittsfield; a sister, Yvonne DeSanty of North Adams, and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 17, at 8:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Agnes' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel B. Brunton. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Thursday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Shriners Hospital in care of the Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
