Eleanor Elaine Charland, 87, of 24 Dartmouth St. died Monday at the Center for Optimum Care, where she had resided since April 7.
Born in Bingham, Maine, on May 31, 1914, daughter of Adelard and Marie Lamontagne Charland, she moved to Pittsfield and attended local schools.
Miss Charland was employed by GE in the production of capacitors and transformers, retiring in 1978 with 32 years of service. She also was a waitress at the former Busy Bee Restaurant at one time.
She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of its St. Ann's Society. She also was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.
She leaves two sisters, Adrienne Cornellier and Jeannette Charland, both of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Lorenzo Charland and Omer Charland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Earl A. Hebert, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Miss Charland may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201.
