Mary L. Roberts, 97, formerly of 226 Lenox Ave., died Monday at Craneville Place of Dalton, where she resided for four years.
Born in Pittsfield on May 16, 1904, daughter of Leon and Emilie Mettetal Laurent, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Roberts was employed as a clerk in the linen department at the former England Brothers department store, retiring in 1969 after 30 years of service.
She was a communicant of St. Charles' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She was a member of the Irish-American organization, the Pittsfield Women's Club, the England Brothers Quarter Century Club and the Wahconah Country Club.
She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and watching the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Celtics.
Her husband, John D. Roberts, whom she married Sept. 3, 1927, in Notre Dame Church, died March 8, 1991.
She leaves a daughter, Rosemary Prendergast of Lanesboro; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two great-greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 10, at 11:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Charles' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel Brunton. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be at DWYER FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, May 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to The Patient Fund at Craneville Place in care of Dwyer Funeral Home in her memory.
