Robert A. Yerkes

Robert A. Yerkes, 54, of 272 View Drive died Saturday at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.
An active member of the community, he was a former president of the Richmond Civic Association and a member of the Richmond Bylaw Revision Committee and the Richmond Historical Society.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 12, 1947, son of Frances Chipman Yerkes and the late Arthur Yerkes, he was a 1965 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He also graduated from the General Electric Apprentice Program.
Mr. Yerkes was employed by GE and General Dynamics for a total of more than 36 years and, at the time of his death, was a principal computer-assisted drafting engineer.
He was a local representative to the Massachusetts Bicentennial Commission, a Little League and Babe Ruth baseball coach, and a member of Junior Achievement and the Corvettes of Berkshire.
He and his wife, the former Donna M. Eastman, were married Sept. 15, 2000.
Besides his wife and mother, of Stockbridge, he leaves a son, Scott A. Yerkes of Greenfield, N.H.; a daughter, Inger Camarro of Philadelphia; a brother, Douglas Yerkes of Eustis, Fla.; a sister, Jane Stratton of Mount Dora, Fla., and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted tomorrow, May 1, at 3 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton by the Rev. Irene Jones, pastor of Richmond Congregational Church. Following cremation, burial will be in Center Cemetery in Richmond at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 2 to 3. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Richmond Civic Association or the Richmond Historical Society, both in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
