Ruth Emerson Popovich, 80, of 25615 Troon Ave., Mount Plymouth, Fla., formerly of Dalton, died April 5.
Born in Dalton on Jan. 2, 1922, daughter of Philip H. and Alberta Price Emerson, she graduated from the former Dalton High School.
A veteran of World War II, Mrs. Popovich served in the Women's Army Corps as a radio and control-tower operator. She spent 20 months in England with the Eighth Air Force.
Prior to entering the service, Mrs. Popovich was employed as a clerk by GE in Pittsfield. She moved to Florida many years ago, where she was a Realtor until her retirement.
She leaves her husband, Harold S. Popovich; two sons, Michael Powell of Boston and Philip Powell of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Jean Emerson-Bacon of Framingham; a stepdaughter, Shelley A. Parker of Gainsville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Barbara E. Calkins.
Burial took place in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Memorial services for the immediate family will be held in June. In her memory, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
