Kathleen Graffagnino-Sawyer

Kathleen A. Graffagnino-Sawyer, 43, of Buena Vista St., Unionville, Conn., formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, Conn., after losing a two-year battle with cancer.
Born in Jamaica, N.Y., on Nov. 11, 1958, daughter of Frank J. and Leora Smith Manzella, she graduated from Berkshire Community College. She resided in Pittsfield before moving to Unionville in 1993.
Mrs. Graffagnino-Sawyer was employed as a cafeteria worker for the Farmington School District for many years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bloomfield, Conn., and had volunteered at the Genealogy Library in Bloomfield and for numerous church activities. She held a black belt in karate from the Center of Self-Defense in Canton, Conn.
Besides her parents, of Oyster Bay, N.Y., she leaves two sons, Anthony Graffagnino of Albany, N.Y., and Pfc. Matthew Graffagnino, stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.; a daughter, Pvt. Anne Marie Graffagnino, stationed at Fort Drum, N.Y.; and four brothers, Joseph F. Manzella of Bay Shore, N.Y., Frank D. Manzella of Dalton, Stephen G. Manzella of Pittsfield and Michael G. Manzella of Coram, N.Y.
Friends may call at VINCENT FUNERAL HOME, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, Conn., Wednesday, April 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. The funeral for Kathleen Manzella Graffagnino-Sawyer will be Thursday, April 25, at 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1000 Mountain Road, Bloomfield, Conn., with Bishop David Williams officiating. Burial will be in Dyer Cemetery, Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in care of Bishop Williams, 16 Circle Drive, Unionville, CT 06085, or the American Red Cross, Greater Hartford chapter, 209 Farmington Ave., Farmington, CT 06032.
