Marylin F. Kelly, 65, of 30 Florence St. died Monday at home. She was the mother of state Rep. Shaun P. Kelly of Dalton.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 30, 1936, daughter of Francis and Gladys Benoit King, she was a 1954 graduate of Drury High School. She also graduated from the former Engrahm School of Hair in New York.
She was employed as a service representative for the former New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. at one time. For many years, she was vice president and treasurer of the family firm, Kelly's Package Store Inc.
Mrs. Kelly was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality and Parish Council. She was a member of the Irish-American Club, and treasurer of the Committee to Elect Shaun P. Kelly State Representative.
She and her husband, Robert Kelly, would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary July 4.
Besides her son and her husband, she leaves two daughters, Colleen Morrison of Groton and Erin Kelly of Charlotte, N.C.; another son, John F. Kelly of Dalton; a sister, Barbara Rupprecht of Pittsfield, and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Agnes' Church by the Rev. John A. Koonz, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Fire Department, St. Agnes' Church or to HospiceCare of the Berkshires, all in care of the funeral home, 890 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
