Vincent Sanginetti

Vincent F. "GiGi" Sanginetti, 75, of 325 Fenn St. died Saturday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 1, 1926, son of Dominic and Mary Pullaro Sanginetti, he attended local schools. He graduated from the General Motors Training Center in Dedham as an auto transmission specialist.

He was first employed by the former South Street Chevrolet. In 1951, he founded Fenn Street Transmission, which he operated for 40 years. His sons now own and operate the business.

Mr. Sanginetti was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 564, the West Stockbridge Sportsmen's Club and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his second home in Mount Washington.

He and his wife, the former Virginia A. Russo, would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary April 18.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James V. Sanginetti of Lenox and John A. Sanginetti of Pittsfield; five daughters, Joanne F. DiGirolamo of Dalton, Judy A. Houle, Jeanne M. Sanginetti and Julie M. Wood, all of Pittsfield, and Tina V. Sanginetti of Altamont, N.Y.; two brothers, Nicholas A. Sanginetti and Francis G. Sanginetti, both of Pittsfield; two sisters, Carmen Curzio of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Marion Gennari of Pittsfield, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be tomorrow, April 16, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, April 15, from 4 to 8. Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 will meet at the funeral home tonight at 6 for a Ritual Service. Mr. Sanginetti enjoyed hunting, fishing and his second home in Mount Washington.
