Mary R. Shepardson, 85, of 8 Lebanon Ave. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on May 26, 1916, daughter of John E. and Irene Broderick McDonough, she was a 1934 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Shepardson was employed by various retailers for several years, including Sears, the former Woolworth's and the former Big N department store.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and enjoyed reading and attending her grandchildren's baseball games.
Her husband, Herbert H. Shepardson, whom she married July 31, 1939, in St. Mark's Church, died Dec. 13, 1999.
She leaves a son, attorney Herbert J. Shepardson of West Hartford, Conn.; a brother, Gerald McDonough of Pittsfield, and two grandsons. She was predeceased by a brother, John E. "Bud" McDonough Jr., and three sisters, Irene Wannamaker, Helen Meyers and Madlyn Adornetto.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday beginning at 9:30 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In addition to flowers being sent, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Church in care of the funeral home.
