William E. Fahey

William E. Fahey, 85, of 44 Egremont Ave. died Tuesday at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided since October.

Born in Pittsfield on April 11, 1916, son of Lawrence and Anna Moynihan Fahey, he attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Fahey was employed as a welder and group leader at General Electric Co. in the Power Transformer Division for 40 years, retiring in 1976.

He attended First Baptist Church in Pittsfield and was an active member of the Berkshire Museum Stamp Club for many years and had served as its treasurer.

He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, the former Evelyn V. Whitaker, whom he married June 6, 1938; a daughter, Grace Riesen of Storrs, Conn.; a brother, Francis Fahey of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with Rev. Dr. Robert Rennie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Pittsfield, officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to a charity of the donors choice.
