Bertha Burns

Bertha Burns, 96, formerly of 44 Copley Terrace and 153 South St., and most recently of 99 Second St., died Wednesday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in New York, N.Y., on Dec. 22, 1905, daughter of Abra-ham and Gussie Schneider Rosen, she attended schools in Connecticut.
Mrs. Burns was self-employed as a seamstress all her life. She worked for several area retailers, including the former England Brothers and the Lincoln Store.
A member of both Knesset Israel Synagogue and Temple Anshe Amunim, she enjoyed traveling to visit her family. She also enjoyed ice cream sodas and having lunch at the Jewish Community Center.
Her husband, Patrick E. Burns, died March 20, 1975.
She leaves two daughters, Marlene Harding of New York City and Gail Houghtlin of Pittsfield; a sister, Rachel Lehman of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery, Temple Section, with Rabbi Dennis Ross, spiritual leader of Temple Anshe Amunim, officiating. Calling hours will be observed at the home of Cathryn Harding, Charlottesville, Va., Saturday night through Tuesday night. DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of local arrangements.
