Lawrence J. Lamy

Lawrence J. Lamy, 97, of 4 Juliana Drive died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 24, 1904, son of George Lamy and Evaline Dery Lamy Archey, he attended local schools.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a master sergeant with Company I, 328th Infantry.

Mr. Lamy was employed by GE for 51 years in the distribution transformer department. He retired in 1969 and spent winters in Naples, Fla., for 14 years.

He attended Notre Dame and Mount Carmel churches and was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, and a former member of Pittsfield Elks Lodge 272. He enjoyed gardening and foreign travel, and had visited 11 countries.

He and his wife, the former Eleanor M. Spiriti, would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary April 26. They were married at Mount Carmel Church.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur Lamy, Ernest Lamy and Joseph Lamy, and a sister, Doris Goodrich.

A private funeral was held Saturday, March 16, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial was Monday, March 18, in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. The Rev. John H. Ford, CSS, offered prayers at the grave. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., was in charge of arrangements.
