Rita M. Parise, 74, of 11 Oriole St. died Saturday at Providence Care Center in Lenox, where she was admitted Jan. 31.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 18, 1927, daughter of Frank and Mary Morini Montagna, she graduated from Drury High School in 1945. She moved to Pittsfield in 1951.
Mrs. Parise was employed by the former Sheaffer Eaton's for 20 years, retiring in 1989. She also had been employed for several years as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Co. in North Adams and in Pittsfield.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
She and her husband, Anthony R. Parise, were married Oct. 21, 1950, at St. Anthony's Church in North Adams.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Anthony F. Parise of Ithaca, N.Y., and Michael J. Parise of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Louise M. Therrien of Williamstown and Lillian L. Trimarchi of North Adams, and three grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Anna Rougeau.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 20, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. John H. Ford, CSS. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, March 19, from 4 to 7. Mount Carmel Church Holy Name Society will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. for a Vigil Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mount Carmel Church Centennial Memorial Fund or to the Employees' Fund of Providence Care Center of Lenox in care of the funeral home.
