Elizabeth Conry

Elizabeth W. Conry, 89, of 87 Harvard St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on May 16, 1912, daughter of Merrill and Eleanor Humphrey Powell, she moved to Pittsfield in 1926 and was a 1930 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Conry was employed by GE as an executive secretary in the power transformer department for 10 years before her marriage.
She enjoyed reading and gardening, and was a published writer, having written many articles about Hoosick Falls in the 1920s.
Her husband, Thomas J. Conry, died Jan. 5, 1985.
She leaves three sons, James M. Conry of Westford and Thomas F. Conry and Brian Conry, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Kathleen Grieve of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Eleanor Rosenhein of Dalton; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Merrill and Donnie Powell.
The funeral will be tomorrow, March 16, at 10 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Robert Kyte of First Congregational Church in Dalton officiating. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, March 15, from 5 to 8. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Louis Miller Museum in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201.
