Normand Marcoux

Normand Edwin Marcoux, 79, of 51 McKinley Terrace died Feb. 22 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Stoke, Quebec, on April 14, 1922, son of Adelard and Mary Jane Fredette Marcoux, he came to the United States at the age of 2 and attended Lamoille Academy in Hyde Park, Vt. He came to Pittsfield in 1947.
Mr. Marcoux served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in the Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon.
A self-employed painter for many years, Mr. Marcoux was later employed by Berkshire Life Insurance Co. for 12 years, retiring in 1983.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church.
His wife, the former Olive M. Desrosiers, whom he married Sept. 6, 1947, died Jan. 16, 1995.
He leaves a son, Richard J. Marcoux of Wadsworth, Ohio; a daughter, Lillian T. Cummings of Peru; seven brothers, Roland, Gerard and Arthur Marcoux, all of Twentynine Palms, Calif., Raymond, Rene and Roger Marcoux, all of Hyde Park, and Wilfred Marcoux of Waterbury, Vt.; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two infant daughters, who died in September 1950 and December 1953.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 16, at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. Earl A. Hebert, pastor, officiating. There are no calling hours. DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
