Charles F. Sheran

Charles F. "Buddy" Sheran, 69, of 6436 Salt Water Boulevard, Hudson, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Tuesday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 26, 1933, son of Francis J. and Lillian Carrow Sheran, he was a 1950 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where he was all-Berkshire in baseball and played second base for the state championship baseball team in 1949.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was named Outstanding Airman in 1955.

Mr. Sheran played professional baseball for the Brooklyn Dodgers farm team in Sheboygan, Wis., in 1951. He also played for the Pittsfield American Legion and Tyler Aces. For many years, he coached in the Pittsfield West Little, Babe Ruth and American Legion baseball leagues.

He worked as a draftsman-engineer for the GE power transformer department for 37 years, retiring in 1988.

He leaves his wife, the former Barbara A. Leonard, whom he married July 11, 1953; three sons, Daniel Sheran of Pittsfield, Matthew Sheran of Marston Mills and Charles Sheran of Atlanta; two daughters, Lori LeBeau of Millbury and Jane Palen of Becket; a brother, Peter Sheran of Springfield; a sister, Nancy Shaw of Pittsfield, and 10 grandchildren. A son, Mark Sheran, died Jan. 25, 1975. He was predeceased by four brothers, Donald, Francis, Richard and David Sheran, and a sister, Patricia Morris.

The funeral for Mr. Sheran will be Saturday, March 9, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 8:30 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Sheran may be made to Pasco County Hospice in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
