Kenneth Flanders

Kenneth R. Flanders, 71, of 194 Lebanon Ave. died Tuesday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on March 26, 1930, son of Ralph and Amelia DePatis Flanders, he attended local schools. He moved to California during his senior year and graduated from high school in San Jose in 1948. He had resided in Cape May, N.J., for 25 years and returned to Pittsfield in 1975.
He served in the Navy as a technician for the Atomic Energy Commission during September 1952. Mr. Flanders was employed as a custodian for the Pittsfield School Department and later retired from First Agricultural Bank.
While in Cape May, he was a member of the Villas Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years. He helped organize and create the Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corps and volunteered as a Cub Scoutmaster.
He was also a coach for the West Little League for three years and coached in the Paul Brindle League. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and raised a steer. He was an avid horseman, baseball player and a stock car driver. He also was a member of the pit crew at the former Riverside Park in Agawam.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, the former Katherine L. Frontiero, whom he married Sept. 25, 1955, at St. Ann's Church in Gloucester; a daughter, Donna M. Santora of Pittsfield; three sons, Kenneth R. Flanders Jr., Joseph P. Flanders and Stephen M. Flanders, all of Pittsfield, and nine grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at their home, 194 Lebanon Ave., on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club or to the Taconic High School Baseball Booster Club in care of DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, which is handling arrangements.
