Stokes W. Hall

Stokes W. Hall, 78, of 195 King St. died Saturday at home after a long illness.
Born in Coldwater, Miss., on May 13, 1923, son of Wilson A. and Roberta Howard Hall, he moved to New York as a child and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson Vocational School in New York City. He moved to Pittsfield in 1945.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a sergeant with the 159th Field Artillery Battalion.
Mr. Hall was employed by GE for 39 years, retiring in 1984 as foreman of the machine shop.
He was a 60-year member of Second Congregational Church, a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and the NAACP, and a life member of American Legion Post 68.
His wife, the former Ariel V. Williams, whom he married Dec. 28, 1942, died in 1999.
He leaves a son, Mulazimuddin S. Rasool of Belchertown; a daughter, Ariel M. Hall of Pittsfield; two sisters, Anna Haskins of Baltimore and Beatrice Lily of Laurelton, N.Y.; a brother, Robert H. Hall of Lanesboro; a granddaughter, and a great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 in Pittsfield Cemetery. Those wishing to attend, please meet inside the gate of the cemetery at 12:45. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Diabetes Association in care of WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
