Rose Marie Sauerborn, 86, of 63 Northumberland Road died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in New York City on Aug. 20, 1915, daughter of Charles and Mary Barbera Gaetani, she moved to Pittsfield as a child and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Sauerborn was employed as a waitress by the Pittsfield Country Club for 20 years. Previously, she had been employed by the former Berkshire Restaurant of Pittsfield for 10 years. She also worked with her daughter, Mary Shea Knight, in her business, Color Accents, for 10 years and held a real estate broker's license.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and enjoyed playing the piano.
Her husband, Jacob H. Sauerborn, whom she married April 6, 1953, died Nov. 7, 1986.
Besides her daughter, with whom she made her home, she leaves two sons, Eugene T. Brady of Lanesboro and Jacob H. Sauerborn Jr. of Lynn; another daughter, Rosemarie Goulet of Pittsfield; 13 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Judith Brady Tremblay of Lanesboro, died Sept. 11, 1994. She was also predeceased by two grandchildren: Jean-Pierre Goulet, who died in 1991, and Theresa Rose Tremblay Warner, who died in 1993. She was also predeceased by six brothers, Nicholas, Thomas, Anthony, Joseph, Charles and Peter Gaetani, and by two sisters, Santina Sibolski and Yolanda Sumy.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 6, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial a 10 at St. Joseph's Church. Mrs. Sauerborn's grandson, Daniel Knight, will play the bagpipes. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Father Flanagan's Boys' Town or to the Damien Group, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
