Louis W. Herforth

Louis W. Herforth, 97, of 23 Summit Ave. died yesterday at Craneville Place in Dalton, where he had resided since October 2000.
Born in Pittsfield on June 26, 1904, son of Alois and Anna Herforth, he was educated in local schools.
Mr. Herforth was employed by GE for 47 years in the cost and accounting department. He retired in 1965.
He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a member of its Holy Name Society, and was involved in the operation of the parish's bingo games for many years. He was also a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and enjoyed gardening and fishing.
His wife, the former Eda Josephine Galemberti, whom he married June 5, 1933, died Jan. 9, 1998.
He leaves two sons, Richard L. Herforth of Pittsfield and Robert W. Herforth of Peru, N.Y.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Mr. Herforth was predeceased by two grandchildren, Dennis R. Herforth, who died Oct. 8, 1984, and Lisa J. Herforth, who died April 5, 1967.
Services will be tomorrow, Tuesday, at 12:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 1 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Monday, from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
