Richard T. May

Richard T. May, 65, of Grange Hall Road died yesterday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 26, 1936, son of Edward C. and Alice O'Brien May, he attended schools in Lenox and later moved to Vermont, where he graduated from Middlebury High School. He moved to Dalton in 1980.

He served with the Army for three years, two of those in Germany. Following his discharge, he graduated from the University of Vermont in 1962.

Mr. May was employed in human resources management. He first worked for Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Conn., from 1962 until 1965, and for Dunham Bush Corp. in West Hartford, Conn., from 1965 until 1968. He joined GE in 1968 and worked in Rutland, Vt., and Schenectady, N.Y., then at GE Plastics in Pittsfield until his retirement in 1991.

He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of the Wahconah Country Club's Early Morning Men's Association.

He leaves his wife, the former Catherine Rance, whom he married June 25, 1960; a son, Richard J. May of Lenox; two daughters, Susan May Strong of Lenox and Nancy May-Skinner of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a brother, Brian E. May of North Easton, and three granddaughters.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be conducted Saturday at 9 at St. Agnes' Church, Dalton, by the Rev. John Koonz, pastor. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Lenox. Calling hours at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute Gift Processing Department in care of the funeral home. Among survivors are three granddaughters, Catherine DeViry Strong, Jane Frances Skinner and Molly Catherine Skinner; a son-in-law, Andrew J. Skinner, and cousins Edward Forrest of Pittsfield and Karen Kelly of Lee.
