Florence Hutchinson

Florence M. Hutchinson, 78, of Humble, Texas, formerly of Lenox, died Monday at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Humble.
Born in New York City on June 26, 1923, daughter of Walter and Violet Ritchie Cooke, she moved to Hancock at the age of 4 and attended grammar school there. She was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She had resided in Lenox for more than 40 years before moving to Humble eight years ago.
Mrs. Hutchinson was employed by the federal government during World War II in Washington, D.C., and later at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for several years. She also worked at Berkshire Medical Center until retiring in 1974. After retiring, she drove school buses in Lenox part time for Dufour Brothers.
While in Lenox, she was a member of St. Helena's Chapel and, most recently, of the Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Humble.
Her husband, Franklin Hutchinson, whom she married May 9, 1952, died Jan. 25, 1986.
She leaves two sons, Dwaine S. Hutchinson of Burleson, Texas, and Gary S. Hutchinson of Humble; a daughter, Gail White of North Adams; a brother, attorney W. Stanley Cooke of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Cooke, who died in 1977.
A memorial service will be conducted at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Humble, Texas, on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m. and services at St. Helena's Chapel in Lenox will be held at a date and time to be announced in the spring, with burial to follow in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations in Mrs. Hutchinson's memory may be made to either Lamb of God Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association, both in care of ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240, which is in charge of arrangements.
