George E. Came

George E. Came, 88, of 112 Brown St. died Tuesday evening at home.
Born in Troy, N.Y., on Nov. 23, 1913, son of Samuel and Adeline Champagne Came, he attended local schools.
Mr. Came was a World War II veteran.
He was employed by GE and later by the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier with the Pittsfield post office for 29 years, retiring in 1979.
Mr. Came was a communicant of Notre Dame Church where he assisted as an usher and during bingo games. He enjoyed reading and walking.
He leaves his wife, the former Teresa Rando, whom he married April 14, 1951; five sons, Edmond G. Came and Christopher E. Came, both of Pittsfield, Peter M. Came of Newburyport, Jerome A. Came of Newport News, Va., and Paul D. Came of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Adrienne M. Meyer of Hopedale, Rosemarie I. McCauley of New Hampshire, and Frances A. Mulligan of Silver Springs, Md.; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. An infant son died in 1957. He was also predeceased by his brother, Samuel T. Came.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 15, at 10:15 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Earl A. Hebert, pastor. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Came may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
