Edna Rose O'Connor, 66, of 39 Lakewood Drive died Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.
Born in Hinsdale, N.H., on Feb. 26, 1935, daughter of Leo Gratton Sr. and Ruth Passeneau Gratton, she attended schools there and in Brattleboro, Vt., and graduated from Becket Junior College in Worcester. She moved from Brattleboro to Dalton in 1962 and to Pittsfield 10 years ago.
Mrs. O'Connor was employed as a bookkeeper for Time Warner Cable for 29 years, retiring in 1997. After her retirement, she worked part time as a salesclerk at J.C. Penney in the Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro.
A communicant of St. Agnes' Church in Dalton, she was active in church affairs. She enjoyed her cats, traveling, reading and going to Tanglewood, and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
She leaves a son, Michael J. O'Connor Jr. of West Chesterfield, N.H.; three daughters, Denise C. Kempf of West Chesterfield, Debra J. Vosburgh of Sheffield and Colleen M. White of Pittsfield; a brother, Leo Gratton Jr. of Brattleboro; a sister, Ruth Field of West Swanzey, N.H.; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be Thursday, Feb. 14, at 8:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, Dalton, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Agnes' Church by the Rev. John A. Koonz, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hinsdale, N.H. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
