Eugene M. Russell, 91, of 36 Lucia Drive died Monday at home.
Born in Oswego, Pa., on Oct. 30, 1910, son of Richard J. and Dottie Crittenden Russell, he had resided in Pittsfield most of his life and attended local schools.
Mr. Russell was employed as an assembler at General Electric Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1975. After his retirement, he worked at Pittsfield Cooperative Bank for 10 years.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs and the Boys' and Girls' Club Alumni Association.
He served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery Program and received the Volunteer of the Year award in 1999.
His wife, the former Bertha M. Card, died in August 1976.
He leaves a son, Raymond T. Russell of Pittsfield; two daughters, Lois J. Minkler and Susan A. Russell, both of Pittsfield; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.
Calling hours will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Russell may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
