Leona M. Audette

Leona M. Audette, 82, of 145 West Housatonic St. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on May 19, 1919, daughter of Joseph and Irene Packard Levitre, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Audette was employed as a graphics artist at the former Eaton Paper Co. She later was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Hillcrest Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of the Split Feather Indian Council. She was known as "Red Sky" and attended the powwows in Charlemont. In the summer of 2000, the council held a ceremony in her honor.
Her husband, Clarence C. Audette, whom she married in 1945, died June 3, 1968.
She leaves two sons, Gordon C. Taylor of Pittsfield and David C. Audette of Merrimack, N.H., and a sister, Julia M. Brown of Pittsfield.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Levitre of Cohoes, N.Y., who died in February 2001.
Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Audette may be made to the Split Feather Indian Council in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
