Albert D'Ilio

Albert D'Ilio, 84, of 76 Elaine Drive died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in San Giovanni Teatino, province of Chieti, Italy, on Jan. 10, 1918, son of Livino and Anna DiNicola D'Ilio, he attended schools in Italy. He came to the United States in November 1950.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Italian air force for 14 years.
Mr. D'Ilio was employed for 18 years by E.D. Jones Beloit Corp. in Dalton, retiring in 1977. He was first employed by Elmvale Worsted Co. for a short time, then by Mohawk Beverage for eight years.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Mount Carmel Bocce League, Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 and United Commercial Travelers. He also was a member of the Senior Citizens, the American Association of Retired Persons, and of the Italian-American Club and its Monday Night Bocce League. He played in many bocce tournaments, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking.
He and his wife, the former Reva DiNicola, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary Oct. 22.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Ann Marie Hamling of Pittsfield and Jean Perrea of the town of Washington; five sisters, Gilda DiNicola of Pittsfield, Norina Ciaschetti of Chieti Scalo, Italy, and Rosina Cicconi, Lucia DiCesare and Fiorina Zizzi, all of Pescara, Italy; a brother, Cesare D'Ilio of Pescara; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Adelia Castellano and a brother, Giovanni D'Ilio.
The funeral will be Thursday, Jan. 31, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, Jan. 30, from 4 to 7. Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 will conduct a ritual service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home and the Mount Carmel Church Ladies' Guild and Holy Name Society will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. for a vigil service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mount Carmel Church Centennial Fund in care of the funeral home.
