Louis J. Gilardi

Louis J. Gilardi, 87, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Devonshire Estates, Lenox, and formerly of Elberon Avenue, died Tuesday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on March 3, 1914, son of Guido and Maria Bazzano Gilardi, he was a 1932 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He also attended the former Berkshire Business College in 1934.
He was employed by GE in the power transformer department as a production manager for 37 years, retiring in 1974.
A communicant of St. Mary of the Morning Star, Mr. Gilardi was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs, the GEAA and was a former member of the former Stanley Club, Faccioli Club and the Board of Registrars of Voters in Pittsfield. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading.
He leaves his wife, the former Jennie J. Panetti, whom he married April 17, 1937, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church; two sons, Thomas D. Gilardi and Ronald W. Gilardi, both of Pittsfield; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, Myron and Charles Gilardi and Joseph and John "Jack" Gilarde, and a sister, Catherine Smith.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, Jan. 17, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary of the Morning Star Church, celebrated by the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., will be Thursday morning from 8:30 to 9:30, which was a request of Mr. Gilardi. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Catholic Youth Center in care of the funeral home. Following services at St. Joseph's Cemetery, family and friends are invited to the Italian American Club on Newell Street.
