Anna Nykorchuk

Anna Semeno Nykorchuk, 81, of 51 Mohegan St. died Sunday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.

Born in Philadelphia on July 8, 1920, daughter of Alex and Katherine Petrashchuck Semeno, she graduated from Pittsfield High School.

She was first employed by the former General Electric Co. Transformer Division and retired in 1984 from the GE Ordnance Division after more than 40 years of service in the wiring department.

Mrs. Nykorchuk was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the Ukrainian Women's Club Church. She was a past committee member of the Ethnic Fair Committee.

She and her husband, Max, demonstrated the artistic skill of decorating the detailed Ukrainian Easter egg, known as Pysanki. She was involved in ethnic Ukrainian art and history, and enjoyed animals, especially her dogs.

Her husband of 42 years, Max Nykorchuk, whom she married Feb. 14, 1942, died in April 1984.

She leaves several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 10, at 10:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with services at 11 in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at DWYER FUNERAL HOME will be tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 4 to 7. A Panachyda service will be held tonight at 6. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society Inc., in care of Dwyer Funeral Home, in her memory.
