Mary Agnes Scott, 74, of 3400 South Ironwood Road, No. 219, Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Pittsfield, died Dec. 23 at Hospice of the Valley East Mesa Palliative Care Unit, Mesa, Ariz.
Born in Washington, D.C., on May 6, 1927, daughter of George Vincent and Margaret Mary Slattery Repetti, she was a 1945 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Washington. She moved to Pittsfield in 1951.
She was first employed as a switchboard operator at the former Pittsfield General Hospital in 1966, then worked for GE in the transformer department until 1977, when she moved to North Andover. She worked as a bookkeeper for Port Poly, and then at All Newton Music School from 1987 until retiring in 1990. She returned to Pittsfield for two years and moved to Apache Junction in 1992.
Mrs. Scott was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield and St. George's Catholic Church in Apache Junction. She was also a volunteer for CASA, serving as a court-appointed special advocate for children, for four years. An avid bridge player and reader, she also loved animals.
She leaves two daughters, Donna Penna of Pittsfield and Gail Flocken; three sons, Alfred P. Salomone Jr. of Sharon, Thomas A. Salomone of Wilbraham and Mark E. Salomone of Longmeadow; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald J. Salomone, who died Sept. 10, 1993.
A memorial service was held at Christ Church of Son Valley in Apache Junction on Dec. 29. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held this Saturday, Jan. 6, at 10 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her son. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CASA, with checks made out to Friends of Children and mailed in care of Donna Penna, 34 Jayne Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. The Wyman Cremation Chapel in Mesa was in charge of arrangements.
