Edward H. Ginn

Edward Harriman Ginn, 60, of 1413 North East 4th Court, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Monday at Broward General Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Nov. 7, 1941, son of William S. Ginn Sr. and Judith Colt Ginn, he was a 1959 graduate of the former Cranwell School in Lenox. He graduated in 1963 from Santa Clara University in California, where he majored in business administration. He had resided in Pittsfield from the 1940s to '60s, and spent summers at his "Firefly" cottage on Richmond Pond.
He was a member of the Army Reserves.
Mr. Ginn was employed by Marriott International Inc. and Sheraton Hotels & Resorts in international sales and marketing. His position included assignments in London, Athens, Kuwait and several South American cities. In 1991, he created the consulting firm of E.H. Ginn & Co., based out of New York City and the Berkshires, which served major hotel companies throughout the world.
While in the Berkshires, he was a patron of the arts, including of the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Tanglewood and Jacob's Pillow. He was also a benefactor of the Pittsfield Boys' Club.
He leaves a brother, William S. Ginn Jr. of Carlsbad, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Moran of Pasadena, Calif.; a half-sister, Lisa Mottes of Pennsylvania, and his partner, Jonathan Rick of Richmond and Fort Lauderdale, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mr. Ginn will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 10 at St. Teresa's Church. A graveside service will be held at Pittsfield Cemetery in the spring. There will be no calling hours. Contributions in Mr. Ginn's memory may be made to the Pittsfield Boys' and Girls' Club in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
