Lois E. Chadwell, 67, of 226 Bradford St. died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 2, 1934, daughter of Harry and Anna Gardner Robinson, she graduated from Pittsfield High School and took courses at Berkshire Community College and North Adams State College.
Mrs. Chadwell was employed by the Early Childhood Development Center in Pittsfield for 21 years, retiring in 1989.
Her husband, Leslie R. Chadwell, whom she married June 23, 1951, died Jan. 17, 1999.
She leaves three sons, Thomas Chadwell and Leslie Chadwell, both of Pittsfield, and Robert Chadwell of Worcester; three daughters, Lois Turner, Susan Stovall and Carol Farrelley, all of Pittsfield; four sisters, Marcella Proctor of California, Barbara Ann Kelly of Fayetteville, N.C., and Lydia Randolph and Pamela Hubbard, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Carl Robinson of Fayetteville, N.C., and Larry Robinson of Sacramento, Calif.; 22 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer Chadwell, who died in 1964, and a son, Glen Chadwell, who died in 1963.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with the Rev. Willard Durant officiating. Following cremation burial will be Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
