Elizabeth A. Beals

Elizabeth Alexander Beals, 66, of 96 Fourth St. died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 14, 1935, daughter of Leon and Elizabeth Balardini Alexander, she attended local schools.

She served as a sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War from 1953 to 1956.

Mrs. Beals was employed by the Eaton Paper Co. for 33 years and, most recently, at Polymatrix for 13 years.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo, and visiting the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut.

She leaves her husband, William J. Beals, whom she married Oct. 2, 1982; four sons, Dusty Beals of Ohio, Rick Beals of Arkansas, and Buddy Beals and Vincent "Butch" Beals, both of Florida; two daughters, Annette Dunbar and Pamela Burns, both of Florida; two brothers, William Alexander and Leon Alexander, both of Pittsfield, and many grandchildren. Mrs. Beals is predeceased by her two sisters, Frances and Gladys, both of Pittsfield.

Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m., following calling hours, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lee Smith, BMC chaplain, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
