Frances H. Bruno

Frances Helen Bruno, 64, of 315 Hungerford St. died yesterday morning shortly after being admitted to Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Adams on Jan. 29, 1937, daughter of Febronia Koza Andrus and the late William H. Andrus, she attended schools there before moving to Pittsfield, where she was a 1954 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Bruno was an advocate with the Berkshire County District Court Probation Department during the 1970s. She volunteered with at-risk youths by providing a nurturing and safe environment in her home. As they grew and matured, they would return to visit Mrs. Bruno and introduce her to their own children.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed raising flowers and plants. She played bingo at several locations around Pittsfield for many years.
She and her husband, Ralph A. "Bubby" Bruno, were married Feb. 12, 1955, in Mount Carmel Church.
Besides her husband and mother, of Delmar, N.Y., she leaves five sons, Ralph A. Bruno Jr. of Springfield, and Richard D., Ronald N., R. Thomas and William J. Bruno, all of Pittsfield; a daughter, Lori A. Bruno of Montreal; a brother, James W. Andrus of Delmar; a sister, Barbara A. Hunter of Seattle, and 15 grandchildren.
Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the DARE Program in care of the funeral home.
