Martin Wojick Jr.

Martin J. Wojick Jr., 72, of 971 West St. died Saturday as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident in York, Maine.

Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 6, 1929, son of Martin J. Wojick Sr. and Stella Serowik Tiska Wojick, he attended local schools and was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was discharged as a mechanic in the motor pool.

Mr. Wojick was employed as an equipment repairman for Emerson Construction. He was later employed by the GE Ordnance Systems plant in the quality control department, retiring in 1993 with 30 years of service.

He enjoyed hiking, walking, hunting and fishing. A storyteller, he enjoyed sharing memories and local history with family and friends.

He leaves a son, Michael P. Goff of Las Vegas; three sisters, Dorothy A. Wojtkowski of Palmetto, Fla., Theresa W. Quillard of Hinsdale and Valentina Mangapit of Warrenington, Pa., and three brothers, Clement Tiska of Stone Ridge, N.Y., Edward Tiska of Kewanee, Ill., and Edmond J. Tiska of Pittsfield. His other brother, Alphonse Tyska, died March 27, 1992.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday morning prior to the service at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, beginning at 8:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either Children's Hospital or to the Ronald McDonald House in Brookline in care of the funeral home.
