Kenneth Sullivan

Kenneth Hayes Sullivan, 50, of Starboard Lane, York Harbor, Maine, formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at York Hospital from injuries he received in an automobile accident earlier in the day.

Born in Boston on Nov. 18, 1951, son of Edward D. Sullivan and the late Helen Hynes Sullivan, he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1969 with high honors. He received his bachelor's degree in 1973 and his master of science degree in management engineering in 1974 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. He also was a Baker scholar and received a master of business administration degree from Harvard Business School in 1976.

He was employed as a financial investor and securities trader at E.F. Hutton in New York City until 1984. He then became a senior vice president of Drexel-Burnham-Lambert Co. in New York City and also worked as an investment banker for Republic National Bank. In 1990, he started his own company, Mercadian Capital Corp., and was CEO of Principia Corp., with offices in Jersey City, N.J., and London.

In 1998, he moved to York Harbor to fulfill a lifelong dream of building a golf course. He was a partner in the Ledges Golf Course in York and recently opened Fox Ridge Golf Club in Auburn, Maine, while continuing to pursue his interests as a securities investor.

He and his wife, the former Sharon E. Tyska, celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary Aug. 31.

Besides his wife and father, of Hanover, N.H., he leaves three sons, Nolan E. Sullivan, Nicholas T. Sullivan and Kyle H. Sullivan, all of York Harbor; two brothers, Gregory Sullivan of Salem, N.H., and Theodore Sullivan of Simi Valley, Calif.; and two sisters, Janet Sullivan of Orleans and Rebecca Fawcett of Hanover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 11 at St. Christopher's Church, York Street, York. Interment in First Parish Cemetery, York. There will be no visiting hours. Memorial donations may be made to the York Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 238, York, ME 03909, to York High School, 286 Long Sands Road, York, ME 03909, in memory of Ken Sullivan or to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by LUCAS AND EATON FUNERAL HOME, York.
