Phyllis Mettifogo

Phyllis M. Mettifogo, 83, formerly of 43 Edward Ave., died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for six years.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 11, 1918, daughter of Felix and Antoinette Salvatore Cimini, she was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She worked at the family owned grocery store, the Felix Cimini Market on Fenn Street, for 20 years. She later worked at Pittsfield News for 19 years, retiring in 1967.
Mrs. Mettifogo was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and a former member of the Women's Club. She enjoyed dancing.
Her husband, Leonida Mettifogo, died Jan. 21, 1985.
She leaves a sister, Florence Pergiovanni of Pittsfield. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews; a sister-in-law, Lee Cimini, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Grace. Predeceased by five sisters, Margaret Bove, Susan Grace, Mary Cimini, Henrietta Moore and Pauline Colombari, and three brothers, Patrick, Paul and Henry Cimini.
The funeral will be tomorrow, Nov. 27, at 8:30 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Nov. 26, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mount Carmel Church Centennial Fund in care of the funeral home.
