Margaret L. Malatesta

Margaret L. Malatesta, 65, of 71 Bishop Parkway died Saturday afternoon at home.
Born in Norwich, Conn., on Nov. 18, 1936, daughter of John and Alicia Bellows Aubrey, she was a 1954 graduate of St. Michael's High School in Northampton and a graduate of Springfield Technical Community College with an associate degree in dental assisting. She moved to Pittsfield in 1980.
Mrs. Malatesta was employed as a dental assistant in the office of Dr. Henry Philie in Northampton. After moving to Pittsfield, she worked at GE for several years. She later taught at Bright Horizons Day Care Center and was employed in the mailroom at Lockheed Martin for six years. She retired in 1999 because of ill health.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.
She and her husband, Paul E. Malatesta, celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary Oct. 6. They were married in Blessed Sacrament Church in Northampton.
Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, Paul A. Malatesta of Chatham, N.J., Mark J. Malatesta of Charlestown, the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta of Easthampton and Matthew J. Malatesta of Clinton, N.Y.; two brothers, George R. Aubrey of Amherst and Robert R. Aubrey of West Springfield; a sister, Elizabeth McGee of Northampton, and three grandchildren.
Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart Church, with her son, the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, as main celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Camp Holy Cross in Goshen, where Father Chris is director, or to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, both in care of the funeral home.
