Viola Christopher

Viola V. Christopher, 79, of 137 Benedict Road died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on July 29, 1922, daughter of Giuseppe and Assunta D'Arcangelo Liccardi, she attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1941.
Mrs. Christopher was employed for four years by the former Elmvale Worsted Co. She was most recently employed by the former Zayre department store for several years in the yarn department, retiring in the 1960s.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, raising plants and dogs.
She leaves her husband, William B. Christopher, whom she married Dec. 2, 1944, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittsfield; a daughter, Ann L. Christopher of Pittsfield; two sons, Paul W. Christopher of Pittsfield and Jerry W. Christopher of Dalton; two sisters, Mafalda DiCarlo and Mary Kirchner, both of Pittsfield; two brothers, Aldo Liccardi and Anthony Liccardi, both of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Liccardi.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, Nov. 24, at 7:45 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 8:45 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME will be Friday, Nov. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
