Peter R. Monroe

Peter R. Monroe, 54, of 147 Pomeroy Ave. died Monday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on July 22, 1947, son of Antoinette T. Aulisi Monroe and the late Louis R. Monroe, he was a 1966 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He received his associate degree from Berkshire Community College in 1988 and attended the former North Adams State College. He also graduated from the Lee Institute Real Estate Course.
He was an Army military policeman and served in Korea.
He was employed at one time at Tucker Realty of Lee, and also employed at Birchwood Homes and R.N.C. Construction. In the late 1960s, he had worked in the naval ordnance department of General Electric Co.
Mr. Monroe attended St. Mark's Church and had sung as a tenor in the Marian Fathers Choir in Stockbridge. He was a member of an actor's unionand was on the board of directors of Ad Lib.
Besides his mother of Pittsfield, he leaves three sisters, Karen N. Hunkler, Janice M. Monroe and Paula J. Gonnell, all of Pittsfield. He also leaves his longtime companion, Dolores Tucker of Lee.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 16, at 9:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Henry Dorsch, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at Dwyer Funeral Home will be Thursday, Nov. 15, from 4 to 7. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
