William G. Weigand, 79

LENOX, Mass. — William George Weigand, 79, of Sunny Isles, Fla., formerly of Lenox, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, at Adventura Medical Center, Adventura, Fla.



Born in Meriden, Conn., on October 16, 1938, the son of Conrad T. Weigand, Sr. and Virginia Parrette Weigand, he attended schools there and in Pittsfield, Mass., where he was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He also attended Wentworth Institute in Boston.



Billy was employed for 23 years at Berkshire Medical Center in the Food Service Department, retiring in 1996.  Prior to that he had worked at the former Rosa Restaurant on North Street for many years as a short order cook and a counterman.



He had made his home in Lenox for over 40 years prior to moving to Florida in 2014.  His wife, Shindy Driscoll Weigand, whom he married February 8, 1969, died November 11, 2008.



A communicant of St. Ann’s Church he walked to Mass each Sunday and weekday, regardless of weather. Billy enjoyed horse racing and going to Saratoga each summer, spending time at the beach, listening to music, especially jazz, and being outdoors in the sun. For the past 22 years, he was a faithful friend of the other Bill W.



He is survived by his brother, Thomas P. Weigand (Linda) of Pittsfield; his companion, Alice Booker of Sunny Isles, Fla.; sister-in-law Sandra J. Weigand and brother-in-law Thomas (Gloria of Pittsfield; nieces and nephews Conrad T. Weigand III, Melissa Weigand Francoeur, Shaun Weigand (Alissa), Brian Weigand (Amy); and five great nieces and nephews.



Funeral notice: The funeral for Mr. William G. Weigand, who died January 14, 2018, will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Lenox. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Pittsfield. 



There will be calling hours from 9 to 10:30 a.m. preceding the funeral at Roche Funeral Home. In lieu of flower’s donations in Billy’s memory may be made to St. Ann’s Church in care of the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
