LENOX, Mass. — Joseph R. Leahey, 83, of Lenox died Thursday, September 28, 2017, at his home.

Joe was born on April 3, 1934, in Lee, Mass., to the late Thomas C. and Mary Malloy Leahey. Joe graduated from St. Mary’s School and was a 1952 graduate of Lee High School. After high school Joe worked for May Engineering before enlisting in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on August 8, 1958, with rank of PFC.

Mr. Leahey worked for the Town of Lee in the water department and was self-employed as an Auto Mechanic. He could always be found around the family farm working on things, he loved being there.

His wife, the former Frances T. Martin predeceased him on October 22, 1991. They were married on October 19, 1968, at St. Vincent de Paul church in Lenox Dale.

Joe is survived by his four siblings, Thomas M. Leahey and his wife Ruth of Whately, Mass., Elizabeth M. Leahey, Maurice J. Leahey and his wife Mary, and James M. Leahey and his wife Jane, all of Lee; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a brother, Michael J. Leahey.

Funeral notice: A calling hour for Mr. Joseph R. Leahey of Lenox who died September 28, 2017, will be Sunday, October 1, 2017, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Roche Funeral Home. The funeral will be Monday, October 2, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, celebrated by Monsignor John Bonzagni.  

Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary’s School in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
