David C. Wood Sr., 53, of 28 Oak St., formerly of 14 Glassworks Road, Berkshire, died Saturday morning at Farren Care Center in Greenfield, where he had resided for five years.
Born in Lanesboro on Feb. 6, 1948, son of Ellis P. Wood Jr. and Dorothy Tutlew Wood, he attended schools in Pittsfield.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Wood was employed by GE for 20 years, retiring in 1987 because of ill health.
He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesboro and a former member of its Vestry Committee.
He and his wife, the former Linda Ann Grady, were married June 6, 1970, at Dalton Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David C. Wood Jr. of Pittsfield; a daughter, Dawn M. O'Bryan of Berkshire; a brother, Earl Wood of Rhode Island; a sister, Kathy Wood of Rhode Island, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be tomorrow, Nov. 6, at 1 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Lanesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Nov. 6, from 11 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sue Chapin for the David C. Wood Sr. Memorial Fund to be established in his memory, in care of the funeral home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
