Francis Leslie Harris, 85, of 22 Holmes Road died yesterday morning at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where he had resided for six weeks.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 14, 1916, son of Fordyce and Violet Thompson Harris, he attended local schools.
Mr. Harris was employed as a punch-press operator at GE for 31 years, retiring Jan. 1, 1977.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs. He enjoyed carpentry and animals.
His wife, the former Arlene L. Bonneau, whom he married Oct. 25, 1947, in Notre Dame Church, died Aug. 19, 1986.
He leaves a sister, Minnie Harris of Pittsfield. He survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Fordyce Harris, and his five sisters, Lillian Tilley, Helen Leach, Violet Mathes, Beatrice Beaupre, and Florence Malloy.
The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at Notre Dame Church by the Rev. Earl A. Hebert, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 until 7. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Harris' memory may be made to a charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
