Preston L. Tinker Jr., 70

DALTON, Mass. — Preston L. Tinker Jr., "Tink," 70, a former longtime resident of Great Barrington, Mass., passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center after being stricken early at his home in Dalton, Mass.



He was born on January 17, 1947, in Great Barrington, MA, the son of the late Margaret Colwell Tinker and Preston L. Tinker Sr. He was raised in Great Barrington, where he attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Cornwall Academy for Boys in Great Barrington.



Preston worked at many jobs throughout Berkshire County, including Nejaime's, Pete's Motors, Rising Paper and Kolburne School where he made many friends.



Tink loved to laugh and more importantly make others laugh.  



He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Tisdel Tinker, whom he married on October 25, 1969, in Great Barrington. He also leaves two sons, Preston L. Tinker III and Todd Tinker; a daughter, Stacey Kay; six grandchildren, Zachary, Dylan, Shelby, Madison, Jennifer and Olivia; his two sisters, Sarah Schneider and Phyllis Weaver; as well as several nieces and nephews.



He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Spur.



Funeral notice: The family invites everyone to join them to celebrate Preston's life on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the James A. Modolo VFW Post #8348, 800 South Main St., Great Barrington, Mass.



In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Preston L. Tinker Jr. Memorial Fund in care of Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230, who is caring for the arrangements.
