Bruno A. Galvagni

Bruno A. Galvagni, 79, of 75 Newell St. died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since Feb. 25, 1997.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 11, 1922, son of Giovanni and Rosa Galvagni Galvagni, he attended local schools.
A World War II Army veteran, he served with Battery A, 605th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion in Europe. He participated in battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France and the Rhineland and received a number of ribbons and decorations.
Mr. Galvagni was employed by GE for 37 years in the former power transformer department, retiring as a crane hitcher in 1985.
He was a communicant of All Soul's Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He enjoyed music and playing the organ.
He leaves his wife, the former Mary Castagna, whom he married July 27, 1946; a daughter, Helen M. Brooks of Northampton; two brothers, Eugene P. Galvagni of Pittsfield and Victor Galvagni of Gulf Port, Fla.; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a brother, Aldo L. Galvagni. Additional survivors are nieces, nephews, greatnieces and greatnephews.
The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at All Soul's Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at funeral home will be Sunday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
